Description

This 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280SE was imported to New Mexico from Germany in 1980 by the previous owner. We  purchased the car 13 years ago, and reports that the long-term owner used the car sparingly. Power comes from a 2.8L M130 inline-six mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Metric instrumentation and two-color taillights have been retained among other European market features. The front headlights were converted to stacked sealed-beam units. The seller dealer has performed several services to make the car roadworthy, including fitting new tires, new spark plug wires, new brake hoses, and new fuel pump.. This W108 is sold with a clean New Mexico title.

The seller has taken paint meter readings of the Medium Blue (code 350H) paintwork, and states that 5mm readings were taken throughout. The seller notes that the car was still fitted with original Continental tires when they acquired it seven years ago, though they have since been replaced.

The car is equipped with US market headlights with stacked twin sealed beam lights and aftermarket side markers. A set of French market bumper overriders are fitted to the stock bumpers front and rear.

The cabin is upholstered in grey cloth, and retains metric instrumentation, hard plastic-tipped heater control levers, and a chrome horn ring. No radio is fitted, and a radio delete plate is currently installed.

Mileage is shown as 23,400 kilometers (~14,500 miles) and is believed to be accurate.

Power comes from a 2.8L M130 inline-six mated to an automatic transmission. The 2.8L inline-six features Bosch D-Jet fuel injection. When the seller acquired the car seven years ago they installed new spark plug wires, fuel pump shocks and brake hoses to make the car roadworthy. No modifications are said to be present, and the seller states that the original banding clamps are still in place.

Additional photos of the underside  provided in the gallery.

The tool roll is included, as is the spare wheel and tire. A set of custom clamp-on headrests which were commissioned by the previous owner are also included.
